After signing a partnership agreement with Long Drivers of Japan earlier this year , Asia Long Drive Association is happy to announce the signing of another agreement – this time with the Professional Long Drivers Association (PLDA). The agreement was signed on May 9 and represents an important step towards expanding the sport of long drive worldwide. PLDA hosts and sponsors local and regional long drive events as well as the World Championship, and as such provides significant opportunities for people to participate in them. By signing this partnership, Asian long drive competitors became eligible for the annual World Championship that will take place on October 2-8, 2022 at Mesquite Sports & Events Complex, Mesquite, NV,USA.
Apart from being a tremendous development for long drive sport in Asia, becoming a member of the PLDA also puts long ball hitters from all Asian countries on the world’s long drive radar. As the Professional Long Drivers Association operates multi-category events, competitions are open for all divisions. It’s a great opportunity for both aspiring and accomplished long drive players to earn their way to the top and compete against some of the world’s best hitters. PLDA World Championship is scheduled to be held in October this year in Mesquite, Nevada, USA. It’s a world-class event where the best of the best get to compete for prizes, cash and the title. The event is open for both professional and amateur players. As for the format of the World Championship, players are divided into groups of 16 where they play in five sets, round-robin style. In the end, the top two get to compete for the crown.
The current title-holder, Kyle Berkshire will be going back this year to try his luck for the second time in a row. The full-time PGA Tour pro, Bryson DeChambeau, who entered the long drive tournament last year and finished seventh, won’t be competing this year due to recovering from an injury, but his participation in the World Championship in 2021 has tremendously influenced and contributed to development and growth of long drive sport.
The common goals of the Asia Long Drive Association and the Professional Long Drivers Association include, but are not limited to growing the sport globally, providing opportunities for people who thoroughly enjoy partaking in exciting long drive events and increasing participation at these events among both professional and amateur players from all divisions.
The first-ever Asia Long Drive Championship will take place in September, 2022 in Thailand. The exact date and venue are yet to be determined. Join us this September, compete against some of the best players in Asia and earn your spot at the World Long Drive Championship in Mesquite, Nevada.
